WebNamed in honour of Thomas Uchter Caulfield, Viscount Northland (1882-1915), eldest son of the 5th Earl of Ranfurly who was Governor of NZ 1897-1904. Viscount Northland was Aide de Camp to his father 1903-4. He was killed during the First World War in 1915.
